The Florida Gators are down to 27 players in their 2010 recruiting class after four-star recruit Travon Van was released from his letter of intent to Florida after failing to qualify academic wise. Van is now in the process of qualifying at Marshall before the 2010 season kicks off.

Randy Burnside, a Thundering Herd spokesman spoke with the Orlando Sentinel on Tuesday, stating that Van has been enrolled in summer classes over at Marshall. Burnside has not released any other information on Van.

Florida’s recruiting class was ranked as the best in the country and the best recruiting class all-time, which still should be even with the loss of one of their top recruits.

Van, who is 5’11 200 pounds, was expected to battle for playing time at cornerback and even see some time at wide receiver or even in the back field with Demps and Rainey.

In high school, Van finished with 1,237 rushing yards, 311 receiving yards and 50 tackles along with 7 picks on defense.
