UF Football Preview : Florida Gators vs Auburn

Posted by admin on October 12th, 2011   2 Comments

After getting crushed by LSU last week, the Gators are preparing for this Saturday’s game against Auburn. Will Muschamp told reporters that freshman Jacoby Brissett will start, that is, unless Jeff Driskel is healthy enough to play. The Gators are a team with a history of playing with two quarterbacks. In recent history, Chris Leak, a perennial starter who led Florida to a National Championship in 2006, had to share snaps with a young Tim Tebow. This Saturday will hopefully feature 2 gator freshman that have all of the potential and attributes to be great. Surely any time a freshman, or two, gets a chance to play against a powerful SEC team, one can only hope that the big game experience will pay off in the coming months & years. I mean it has to, or you will be left in the same situation that the Miami Dolphins are in, Which by the way are more excited about Tim Tebow coming to play in their home town (October 23 @ 1:00pm) in two weeks than they are about their own franchise.

The Gators are going to face a stubborn Auburn team that has had its ups and downs this season. The defending national champs are 4-2 this year. The Tigers are clinging to a top 25 ranking, currently #24 in the AP poll. Auburn lost last week to Arkansas 38-14 and will look to rebound this week against the Gators.  Auburn’s QB, Barrett Trotter, is a 6’2 junior out of Birmingham, Alabama. This year Trotter has passed for 976 yards with 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. This year the Tigers have been hard pressed to replace last year’s heisman trophy winner and ex-gator, Cam Newton. Newton is on track to be the rookie of the year in the NFL. Much like Tebow was to the Gators, Newton was everything to the Tigers last year.

Game Time: October 15th, 7 pm

Vegas Odds: FLA -2 -110  AUB +2 -110

Really bad coaching! Where was Debose as a WR and punt returner instead of Rainey ? or Patton. Why so many deep passes to Reed, he’s not a WR ?! Why does Burton fall down after he catches the ball so many times? Driskell did not look hurt at all, better scrambler, better foot work than the other QB who is very slow!
