Tebow’s Last Home Game: The Emotions Are Brewing

Perhaps one of the greatest football players to ever lace up their cleats on a college field, and arguably the greatest Florida Gator athlete ever to attend Gainesville. Tim Tebow has had one of the most prolific careers an athlete can have; from Heisman awards to All-SEC, to multiple Championships, Tebow has it all. Today, when he steps on the field against rival Florida State, it will be the last time Tebow takes the field at Gainesville in a Gator uniform.

Tebow is poised to have success in the NFL, but for now, Gator Nation is anxiously awaiting Tebow’s last go-around for a National Championship. We all remember his speech following their shocking loss to Ole Miss, and when his jersey was covered in red during the physical game against Florida State, and how he split time with Chris Leak in Florida’s title run. But now, Tebow’s run as a Gator is coming to a close, but hopefully, it will end the way all of Gator Nation hopes: a National Championship, and an undefeated season.

Tebow’s Accomplishments

2006: All Freshman Team, National Championship

2007: Walter Camp Foundation Award Winner, 3 Time SEC Offensive Player of the Week, Davey O’Brian Award, Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Sporting News Player of the Year, NCAA QB of the Year, First Team All-Sec, Academic All-American, ESPY for Best Male College Athlete, SEC Male Athlete of the Year, Top Amateur Athlete

2008: All-American, Disney Spirit Award, ESPY for Best Male College Athlete, Heisman finalist, Mannin Award, Maxwell Award, SEC Championship MVP, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Wuerffel Winner, National Championship

2009: Awards To Be Determined (expect a lot once again)

The Speech

“You will never see any player in the entire country who will play harder than I will play the rest of the season. And you will not see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody for the rest of the season, and you will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season.”

Gators Sports Nation is sad to see Tebow’s collegiate career end, but we are honored to have witnessed one of the greatest college athletes to ever play, and are thrilled to have covered him on GSN. We wish Tebow the best of luck with his NFL career, and in Florida’s final games.
