On Sunday Morning, Gary Brown, a 2009 5-star recruit and defensive tackle, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery after an incident at a UF frat house. After being told to leave a party early Sunday morning, Brown allegedly slapped a woman opened handed and also scratched at another woman.
The Gainesville Police reported that, Brown used an open hand to strike the face of a woman trying to kick people out of a party. Another woman who intervened was scratched by Brown as he attempted to slap her arms away. The two women were not injured so badly that they were in need of medical attention, but both women filled out and sworn on the incident report.
Although Brown was looked to be one of the best defensive lineman coming out of the 2009 recruiting class, he only served on the scout team as a redshirt during fall practices. It is unknown whether Brown will participate during Spring training on March 17. It seems as if as the off-season goes by, more and more woes and worries cross the minds of the Gator coaching staff.

Funny how this happens right after Coach Meyer goes on leave. I just hope our players don’t think that because the cat’s away, the mice can play. I’m just glad Brown’s been suspended; if he’s found guilty he’ll likely be booted from the team for violating a core value (no violent acts against women).
What really sucks is that once again all the rival trolls and every sanctimonious jerk amongst our fanbase will come out of the woodwork and get up on their soapbox. UcheaT homer Clay Travis also has; I’m surprised he didn’t ask whether or not Gary Brown was a virgin (LOL)!
My sarcasm aside, our coaching staff needs to reiterate the team rules from now until mid-March when Coach Meyer comes back from his LOA. This “let’s misbehave” crap needs to stop.
I am not convinced yet that this has to do with Urban Meyer’s leave of absence. So far I think we are right at the same level of arrests as we were in a similar time frame last year. It’s not that Meyer is not a disciplinarian, it’s that he and his coaching staff can only do so much. Other schools have the same problem–more talent can mean more problems.
