With the sudden resignation of Urban Meyer, Gator fans were concerned whether our 2011 recruits were going to decommit or not and some fans still are worried. But I can tell you this… You may feel a lot better when you hear that QB Jeff Driskel (Oviedo, FL.) is still committed to the University of Florida, which he is right now.
With the new hire of Will Muschamp, he is keeping the 2011 recruiting class strong. Keeping Driskel in Gainesville was one of Muschamp’s top things to accomplish on his to do list. Muschamp spoke with Driskel and his family on the phone and his mom said that Jeff remains committed to Florida.
“He’s fully committed,” Mary Driskel said. “He got his classes set up. He’s on his way.”
The four-star QB was in Gainesville this weekend for his official visit with his family. Just after Muschamp was hired, him and Driskel got in contact pretty quickly.
“Sounds like a high-energy guy,” Mary Driskel said. “He was really excited to come to Florida and really excited that Jeff is committed to Florida.”
Driskel, 6’5 240 is rated the No. 1 quarterback in the Nation by Rivals and No. 2 by scout. Driskel was also honored with Gatorade player of the year in Florida this year.
Driskel is set to arrive in Gainesville on January 7 and will be ready for spring practices.
Other recruits who I have spoke to who have solid commitments are FB Hunter Joyer and punter/kicker Kyle Christy. Christy’s father told Gator Sports Nation that he will be arriving in Gainesville early January.
