Meyer’s Immediate Future Unclear, But Expects To Return

Shortly after the Florida Gators defeated Cincinnati 51-24 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, during the trophy presentation coach Urban Meyer said that he is uncertain of what his future holds, but he believes he will return to coach the Gators.

“I plan on being the coach of the Gators,” Meyer said.

Meyer’s indefinite leave of absence began today, and offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will now be taking over as the interim head coach.

His decision on when to return could rely on how his family responds. His wife, Shelley Meyer, appears to understand how important Meyer is to the city of Gainesville. Last night she was seen at the game by a friend of GSN’s. Once the crowd began the “Urban Meyer” chant, his wife began to get emotional, and it appears she realizes how much the fans of Florida loves Meyer.

Basically, Meyer needs to get his health straightened out because that is the most important thing in this whole situation. Once he feels he is ready and comfortable enough to take on the task of leading Florida, we can expect to see Meyer back on the sidelines, back where he belongs.
