Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer has about had it with the staggering arrest rate he has encountered under his presence at the University of Florida. After Thursday’s practice, Meyer addressed to the media about the legal problems the program has faced ever since he was hired here at Florida.
Junior wide receiver Chris Rainey has been suspended indefinitely after being arrested on Tuesday for alleged stalking. Rainey faced a third-degree felony charge for allegedly sending a former girlfriend a threatening text message. The 911 call came from the girls sister and was also released today. Rainey will not be present in Knoxville on Saturday for the game.
“I try to evaluate everything about our program,” Meyer said Thursday. “I’m real upset about that. After a while, enough is enough. If there’s something we can improve on, we’re certainly looking into that. It’s like if our graduation stinks, then we’ve got to improve that. If there are other issues in a program that’s our job to get it better. People making stupid mistakes, that’s something we’ve got to correct.”
Some of the word that is out has to do with Meyer running a “dirty program”, which Meyer is not happy about but isn’t going to let it get in the way.
“I don’t care,” he said, when asked if he was concerned the program was being perceived that way. “We do our best to win games. Dirty program? It’s not a dirty program. We follow the rules and some guys make mistakes and we’ve got to correct those mistakes. we follow the rules, we do it the right way at Florida and we have to do a better job with correcting some of the people making mistakes.”
Meyer said that he has talked to Rainey.
“He’s angry and disappointed that the whole thing happened,” Meyer said. “We’ve got to move on.”
Asked what Rainey has to do to get back on the squad, Meyer responded: “I don’t know.”
With Rainey’s absence, the Gators will start Omarius Hines at wide receiver.
This marks the 30th arrest involving 27 players under the Meyer era.

Come on guys..Florida has always been known for their OUT-STANDING athletic programs, and when you are dealing with a wide range of different backgrounds, even under strict rules and team regulations, problems can occur. The greatest challenge of a team is how they pull together to overcome the adversity.
I don’t know if Chris is due the charges that he is getting, but I do know that where there are athletes, there are always a lot of things behind the scenes that outsiders(non- athletes) don’t see.
“Dirty Program” I think not at the University of Florida, even if I wasn’t a Gator fan…… and I hope than Rainey hasn’t made a “stupid mistake” as Coach Meyer said for his education, and career sake.
