Earlier this month, the Florida Gators Football Program landed another strong recruit for the 2011 season, standout fullback Hunter Joyner from Tampa Catholic. For a young man who, reportedly muscles up 495 on the bench, strong may be an understatement.
According to Rivals.com, Joyner will enter his senior season at Tampa Catholic as the number one fullback among the high school ranks. Joyner, at 6’0 245 lbs, is a bruiser with deceptive quickness and has the raw tools to add a whole other dimension to the already potent spread-option offense.
GSN was fortunate enough to land an exclusive interview with the talented fullback.
Hunter, I saw where you bench 495 or so… Is that true?
Yea lol, yea all my family is strong.
How did you like your trip to Florida?
It was great. It’s beautiful. I like all the coaches and can’t see [myself] anywhere else.
What coaches recruited you the hardest?
Coach McCarny and Coach White.
What’s one thing that really stood out at Florida?
That they are going to use the fullback a lot more in the future.
Have the coaches told you about how you will be utilized in the offense?
Yea, mostly blocking but they want to throw me the ball out of the backfield a little and give me a couple carries.
Do you plan on enrolling early?
No. My school doesn’t let us.
What do you think of the campus and what are thinking about majoring in?
It’s nicer than all the other campuses I’ve seen. Education most likely.
Hunter, I want to thank you for having me and thank you for your time.

Sound like a true gator.
