The new BCS rankings are out for week 8 and the Florida Gators sit right on top at the No. 1 spot, even after the nail biting win against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday.

The top three teams features Florida (.988), Alabama at No. 2 (.952), and the Texas Longhorns (.891) sitting as No. 3. Boise State who is now ranked fourth has been a big surprise this year, but I honestly think that their National championship hopes are very doubtful.

The Gators are ranked No. 1 in both the BCS poll and USA today poll but Alabama took the first spot in the AP poll with 39 votes, leaving Florida with 20.

Florida really survived a scare over the weekend. I thought I was going to have a heart attack to be honest with you. Arkansas played their heart out and they deserved the win. Florida just seemed like they didn’t want it. But I mean, four fumbles and the absence of Brandon Spikes doesn’t help them much.

If you look at the Gators remaining games, they should pull them off and remain on top in the standings at the end of the season. They still can’t overlook Georgia or FSU though. If both Florida and Alabama go undefeated for the rest of the season, look for them to play each other in the SEC championship game which will be the deciding game to see who will be playing on January 7th in Pasadena, Calif.

Florida has their first real test as the No. 1 BCS team this Saturday when they travel to play Mississippi State at 7:30 pm.
