Ealey Speaks Out On Spike’s Suspension

Something odd happened that nobody would ever guess, and it involved Georgia’s running back Washaun Ealey.

As everyone knows now, during the game last Saturday linebacker Brandon Spikes apparently tried to gouge the eyes of RB Washaun Ealey after the play was over. It was caught on T.V and posted all over the internet and Spikes was also suspended for the first half of the Vanderbilt game this week.

But Ealey thinks differently about the situation. He was shocked that the play even drew up this much attention the past few days and just thought it was nothing. Ealey spoke with the media and disagrees with the suspension Spikes received.

“That really didn’t matter to me,” Ealey said of the suspension. “That’s their decision. He shouldn’t, I think, get suspended at all. We were just out there playing football.”

Ealey also stated that he had his eyes closed as Spikes placed his fingers in his facemask. He said that Spikes didn’t even get close to his eyes.

This kind of stuff goes on every Saturday in college football. It’s just rare that this incident was caught on T.V and is getting more attention then it really needs. Spikes had no intention to hurt Ealey, it was all emotions from the first part of the game.

The top ranked Gators defeated the Dogs 41-17.

Spikes did issue an apology yesterday.

“I accept responsibility for my actions and I accept the consequences of my actions,” Spikes said. “I would like to apologize to my team and the coaching staff and Washaun Ealey. Football is a very physical and emotional game, but there is no excuse for my actions.

i fianlly will surrender as a georgia bulldog, the gators are just better than us and always will be to us this is a big game i’m sure to ya”ll this is more like playing the citidel or georgia southern, we come down every year and take our beating and go home with our tail between our legs and whimper all the way home. let me be the first to say national champs and tebow wins the player of the year award. no one will come close the rest of the way to ya”ll , i make the prediction that the gators will win the national championship for least the next three years. i’m just being a realist
