Jon Halapio, the 6”3’ 305 pound redshirt freshman offensive lineman from St. Petersburg Catholic is intensity personified. Underneath his number 67 jersey, he puts that intensity on display at all times.

As a true freshman in 2009, Halapio was able to get on the field on three occasions in games against Charleston Southern in the season opener, Troy and Kentucky. In total, he put on his number 67 eight times in 2009 including the SEC Championship Game and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Before committing to the Gators, Halapio starred for St. Petersburg High where he excelled at all five offensive line positions. He played so well for the team that the “St. Petersburg Times” dubbed him an Immovable Object on the Line“. He also played on the defensive line for the school. Halapio played in the Pinellas County All Star Game and was named MVP at the Gainesville NIKE Camp. He chose Florida over offers from Notre Dame and Colorado.

Halapio bench presses 340 pounds, squats 515 pounds and has a fantastic 26-1/2 inch vertical leap. He runs a pedestrian 5.1 40, even though the 40 time isn’t too big of a deal for offensive linemen. He has made a solid push for the starting lineup in spring practice and will be more than ready when called upon. Halapio and his intensity should be a great asset the Gators in the years to come.
