Whatever the reasons your recruiting analysis was "a bit late", it turned out the perfect example of why a little extra time to step back, consider and reflect on just what we got and its implications IS often the way to go--especially when everyone else is elbowing each other aside to be first to "rush to judgment".
I agree completely with your thoughts and cautionings on what makes a good class, and what it takes in terms of time, character and effort to make a prospect into a successful player, teammate, and eventually a part of building a consistently successful team--principles THIS Head Coach and staff are clearly determined to apply.
That's why even in the case of the so-called "misses", in most of these instances the reasons the prospect was lost were the "right" ones--ie. they made choices that showed they were not "Gator material" after all. Better by far to concentrate on the positives of this class, and look forward with some confidence to their fit in our shared future, exactly as you describe.
We addressed most of our needs, to a great extent it seems, and don't forget there are some redshirts and talented sophomores whom we lost to injury fairly early last year who will all be returning, ready to make an impact in 2012 along with the most advanced of these freshman recruits.
This will be an exciting season with more "ups" than "downs", a "come-back" year where we begin our rise and return to the elite; I see us challenging in the SEC East (depends on if we get 10 wins, or only 9)--all prelude to the REAL fun in 2013.

Or, maybe, Jeff Driskel was the smart one that realized Charlie Weis is a total fraud.

This article, imo, is completely off the Mark. Driskel has just as much "it" factor you speak of as Brissett. In fact, his scramble ability makes up for the slightly weaker arm, and puts him at an advantage to pick up yards on broken plays which Jacoby has time and time again shown he isn't capable of. The fact has and always will be, until the results of spring ball is done this year, that Brissett was Weis' guy. He personally went out and recruited him., and coached him up all year. That standoff-ish that you were noticing was Weis' cold shoulder to Driskel. I didn't see one time last year with Weis and driskel together, because personally I don't think Weis even cared if Jeff was ion the team or not. This year you will see who is the better qb is. There is no ankle tweak excuse, or overweight, inept oc making onesided decision on his own recruits (taking nothing away from Brissett, I think he is a very good kid, and a great quarterback.)
Either way, I hope for the best athlete to win and help the gators to a more successful offense. As always igtbafg!

A panel of experts favor OSU? This is what we've come to? The cruddy canes killed OSU earlier this year and now we're expected to lose in our home state? This is ridiculous! WM better step it up, period!

We need to find some big backs that run people over and not wory about how high they are in the espnu 150. Also a few gaurds and two centers would be great. Then we should develop a whole new game plan such as Using Mike Gillislee for the first few drives and then throwing fresh legs in at the defense. Also using Mack Brown and Matt Jones and switching them out. This will keep our backs fresh and tire out the defense. Our line should be the biggest players on the team. These guys we have now are the size of the linebackers on FCS teams. Alabama and LSU are so great because they run the ball down the other teams throat, but also use play action, which the gators know nothing about now.
