Charlie Strong Denies Louisville Coaching Rumors

Posted by admin on December 6th, 2009   1 Comment

Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong denied rumors late that last night after the loss to Alabama.

The rumors that he was going to interview for the Louisville job is not true Strong said. From what the media all around has been saying, Strong is the leading candidate for the head coaching job and expected to have an interview right after the SEC championship game. But it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

Strong also stated that he has not been contacted by Louisville and has not had any discussions with them either about becoming the next head coach at Louisville.

Tim Tebow As A Receiver?

Posted by admin on December 5th, 2009   2 Comments

It looked like Florida Gator quarterback Tim Tebow was having some fun running several routes during the Gators walkthrough at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta before they face off against Alabama in the SEC championship.

Tebow spent most of his time just messing around with other teammates and assistant coaches by running routes and catching passes. It seemed like Tim really was having a good time playing wide receiver to. Maybe he might be practicing the role he could be playing in the NFL? Who knows. Here are two videos that were captured.

Tebow No. 2 In This Weeks Scripps Heisman Poll

Posted by admin on December 3rd, 2009   2 Comments

One of the biggest games this year for Tebow is only a couple days away, and coming into this final weekend of play before all of the Heisman ballots are due, Tebow is now No. 2 in this weeks Scripps Howard Heisman Trophy Poll.

Tim is just footsteps behind Texas quarterback Colt McCoy who took the No. 1 spot after having a terrific game against Texas A&M last weekend. It was just last week when Tebow and McCoy were tied for second place but McCoy put up the better numbers even with Tebow’s five total TD’s. This is the first time all year that Colt McCoy has taken over at the No. 1 spot.

Dunlap Suspended For Alabama Game

Posted by Staff Writers on December 1st, 2009   6 Comments

As we all know by now, Florida Defensive End, Carolos Dunlap, was arrested earlier on charges of DUI. We all expected Dunlap to face some kind of punishment from the University of Florida, and now we know what he will be facing.

The Gators have announced the suspension of Carlos Dunlap for the SEC Championship game against Alabama, the #2 team in the nation. How will this affect the Gator defense? I can say that Florida does have great depth on defense, but it’s hard to replace such a top NFL talent like Dunlap, especially against one of the best teams in the nation.

UPDATE: Urban Meyer has said that Dunlap will be suspended from ‘Bama game.

Dunlap Released From Jail

Posted by admin on December 1st, 2009   No Comment

Defensive end Carlos Dunlap has been released from jail by an Alachua County judge after an overnight stay, and due to some paperwork he is still listed in the Alachua County records.

Dunlap was released by an agreement that that he cannot possess alcohol, illegal drugs or prescription drugs that are not prescribed for him. Carlos is a one time offender and hasn’t had any trouble before. This would be the last thing you would ever think he would do, but people make mistakes.

He could possibly receive deferred prosecution that will allow his charges to be dropped once getting court-ordered obligations.

Gator Sports Nation will release any further information on whether Dunlap will be ready for the SEC championship against Alabama or not, but the way it looks right now it’s very doubtful.

Carlos Dunlap Arrested On DUI Charge

Posted by admin on December 1st, 2009   9 Comments

Breaking news Gator Nation! Florida Gators star DE Carlos Dunlap was arrested overnight for driving under the influence (DUI).

Dunlap was arrested around 3:25 a.m. when a Gainesville cop had responded to a reckless driving call on the 200 block of Southwest 34th Street. The officer had found the Chrysler Dunlap was driving and he was found sleeping at the wheel. He refused to take a breath test which made things worse and he was taken to jail several moments later.

Dunlap was put in the Alachua County jail around 5:52 a.m. for a second degree misdemeanor charge of DUI. Carlos is still in jail as of this moment and no bond has been set just yet.

This is not a good time for the Gators. Not at all. Only four days until the big game when they face No. 2 Alabama in the SEC championship and he makes a bone head move like this.

He has recorded seven sacks so far this year and should be an early first rounder in the upcoming 2010 draft.

Obama Rooting For The Gators

Posted by Staff Writers on November 30th, 2009   2 Comments

That’s right Gator Nation, President Obama is on our side! Though he probably should be focusing more on foreign affairs, as well as the economy in America, Obama clearly is an avid college football fanatic. He previously met the Gators following their BCS National Championship victory, and their appearance at the White House, but now he is rooting for them to finish the “dream season”.

Obama does have a connection to Florida’s Right Tackle, Marcus Gilbert. Marcus’ father, Jeff, worked Obama’s Secret Service detail during his two-year presidential campaign. The President often asks Jeff how his son Marcus is doing, as well as how the Gators are performing. Now, Obama is truly apart of Gator Nation.

“He’s rooting for us all the way, like he did last year,” Gilbert said.

I guess there’s a little Gator in all of us, even in the President of the United States of America.
