Steve Addazio to Temple

Posted by Staff Writers on December 22nd, 2010   No Comment

The Temple Owls have hired Florida Offensive coordinator Steve Addazio for there head coach position on Wednesday.

Steve will be formally introduced at a news conference on Thursday.
Addazio has been on Urban Meyer’s staff for the past six years. He was a High School coach from (1988-1994). Addazio is known as a terrific recruiter and was named recruiter of the year by ESPN last year. Steve has been responsible for recruiting the northeast and is responsible for landing recruits like Percy Harvin, Will Hill, and Aaron Hernandez.

Steve is knows for his “Vitamin Addazio” speeches to motivate his players. Players have been quoted as saying that Addazio gets the most out of them.

Addazio started as a tight ends coach in 2005 and took over the offensive line in 2007. He became assistant head coach in 2008 and was the interim head coach last year when Coach Meyer took a leave of absent.

Addazio has been under fire from Gator fans for his playing calling but never for his enthusiasm towards his players.

I think I speak for most gator fans when I say Good Luck Coach Addazio.

Texas bound for Steve Addazio

Posted by admin on December 22nd, 2010   No Comment

Florida Gators offensive coordinator Steve Addazio has accepted to coach the offensive line for the Texas Longhorns, according to several sources.

Addazio has been struggling with offensive play calling the past couple of seasons. Florida, who is ranked 80th in the country for total offense and 48th in scoring offense, suffered five losses that were caused mainly by poor offensive play calling. Addazio makes a great offensive line coach and one heck of a recruiter, its going to be a pretty big loss in those two areas for the Gators but I am sure coach Muschamp will come up with a plan to fill in those gaps.

Addazio, who has been coaching with the Gators since 2005, was named the interim head coach when Urban Meyer stepped down the first time due to health reasons. Coach Addazio was also interviewed for the head coaching job over at Temple.

Gator Sports Nation will release more news once received.

Tebow to get Second Start on Sunday

Posted by Staff Writers on December 20th, 2010   No Comment

Tim Tebow will make his second straight start this Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Tebow is getting the start for two reasons, Kyle Orton is still dealing with bruised ribs and also Tebow executed the game plan well and was turnover free on Sunday.

“Well, the reason right now was that we felt that Tim played well yesterday, ran our offense effectively,” Studesville said. “Compounding that was the fact that Kyle still was rehabbing … and we just felt like prolonging this later into the week wasn’t the best thing for our preparation and practice.”

Tim was given a small game plan, one that didn’t allow for much risk and the Broncos were trying to get a feel for Tebow’s game. Expect this week for the game plan to be widen some as the Broncos’ coaching staff gets more comfortable with Tebow.

Tebow’s performance didn’t go unnoticed to the Raiders as several players praised Tebow’s style and toughness.
“A lot of guys will either slide or they’ll try to take the path of least resistance. But he’s going to go head-up with a guy, every time. He’s a big guy, tough to bring down,” Asomugha said of Tebow’s running style.

To put the rumor to bed that Owner Pat Bowlen told Interim Coach Studesville to start Tebow, Coach Studesville said it was his decision alone to start Tim and that Bowlen agrees with his call.

Tebow scores in first career start

Posted by Staff Writers on December 19th, 2010   No Comment

Former Gator and now Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow scored twice in his first NFL start as the Broncos fail to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

Tebow finished the day by completing 50 percent of his passes (8of16) for 138 yards and touchdown and eight carries for 78 yards with a touchdown.

Tebow had a 40 yard rushing touchdown early in the first quarter and followed that a few minutes later with a 33 yard touchdown pass to Brandon Lloyd.

The play calling was very conservative and didn’t allow for many chances to be taken by Tim. But even with the play calling and terrible field conditions Tebow showed the athleticism and emotion that all Gator fans remember him by. There was countless times Tebow was seen shouting “ Come On” or “Let’s Go” anything to try and get the Broncos team motivated and upbeat about the game.

Tebow become only the third player and first ever rookie in NFL history to complete a touchdown pass of 30 yards and run 40 plus yards for a score in the same game.

With his 78 yards rushing Tim was a few yards of sharing the single game rushing record by a Denver quarterback in a game in franchise history.

It is expected that Tim will remain the quarterback for the Broncos final two games of the Season against Houston and San Diego as the Broncos have been eliminated from the playoffs.

Tebow to make his first career start today

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2010   1 Comment

Well Gator fans the wait is over. You will now get to witness former Florida Gator quarterback Tim Tebow make his first career start as a Denver Bronco today at Oakland according to several sources.

Kyle Orton is suffering from bruised ribs so Tebow has been taking every snap during practice. Tebow has made only a few appearances as a Bronco, only throwing one touchdown pass this season. Today is his time to shine, finally getting the golden opportunity he has been waiting on.

Interim coach Eric Studesville reported this week that Orton is still the starting quarterback but said that the whole quarterback situation wasn’t yet settled because of the status of Orton’s injury.

Orton has been sacked 34 times, a career high for him. He has also thrown close to 500 passes this season. Orton showed obvious pain when he stepped up to the podium to speak this week and said his arm wasn’t the problem. But what happened the past couple of weeks Orton? Nothing but bad performances. We should of seen Tebow a lot this season because Orton did not impress me much at all. I believe former coach Josh McDaniels had several opportunities where he could of put Tebow in the game for Orton but he didn’t, even when they were behind three or four touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

You can see Tim Tebow and the Broncos on CBS today at 4:30pm.

Shazier Decommits and Joins The Buckeyes

Posted by Staff Writers on December 17th, 2010   2 Comments

Ryan Shazier has de-committed from Florida and has committed to Ohio State. Shazier a 4 star Linebacker from Plantation Florida announced his decision tonight at his graduation party. Shazier took his official visit this week to Columbus but before he left he had the chance to meet the new Gator coach.

The de-commitment isn’t what has most gator fans fired up it’s the way Ryan de-committed. Sources tell us that Shazier sent Coach Muschamp a text telling him he de-committed and that he would be taking his skills to Columbus.

Shazier is expected to enroll in Ohio State in January. Ryan was expected to come to Gainesville and compete for playing time next year in a backup roll.

Since the recent hire of Coach Muschamp a lot of people have questioned whether Shazier was big enough to play linebacker in his system as Ryan is only 200lbs. But Shazier makes up for his lack of size with his explosiveness and ability to rush the passer.

Coach Muschamp was quoted as saying” Let’s worry about the kids that want to play for Florida and not the ones that don’t”. Muschamp still has 16 recruits most of which has stated as being solid commits.

Just about a half hour ago Shazier updated his status;  “i shock the world tonight but i guess we all no now im going to the ohio state university”.

I asked Shazier if he had anything he would like to say to Gator Nation, Shazier replied; “Thanks”.

Make no mistake about Florida wanted Shazier but Coach Muschamp will find someone to replace him and Shazier will always be GATOR BAIT!!!

Ryan Shazier to announce decision tonight

Posted by admin on December 17th, 2010   No Comment

Gator Sports Nation has confirmed with Ryan Shazier that he will be announcing his decision later tonight at his church.

Ryan decided to keep his options open after Urban Meyer stepped down as Florida head coach. Shazier recently took visits to Baton Rouge and Columbus, where he just got back. He told me his visit was good and he liked it but for some reason “I” still think his heart is a Florida Gator. Especially after a nice talk with Muschamp and some of his fellow friends who have stuck with their commitment. Time will only tell….

Stay tuned on Gator Sports Nation around 10pm for his decision.
