South Dakota basketball star Cody Larson, who has signed a letter of intent last month to play for coach Donovan and the Florida Gators, is facing legal charges from a drug charge last month in April.

Antonya English from Gator Report stated that the 18 year old was indicted last April for a misdemeanor charge of “inhabiting a room knowing drugs are kept or used there.” Larson’s former teammate in high school (Grant Wynia) was also charged with ingesting or inhaling Hydrocodone that had occurred over at Larson’s home. They both were also suspended.

Larson’s case appeared at court today, a Minnehaha County judge has set three court dates next month in June. Larson did not attend but his lawyer did for him. Antonya English also stated that him and his lawyer will have a chance to reach some kind of agreement to a plea deal that will be set before the 22nd of June.

Larson’s put up some good numbers last season, averaging 19.9 points, 7.8 boards and 4.1 assists per game. He is also ranked No. 22 by scout.com for the Nations top power forward.

“We were aware of Cody’s situation during the recruiting process,” Florida basketball spokesman Fred Demarest said in a statement. “He and his family were up front with us during the recruiting process.”
