The Florida Gators found a way to win against the Ole Miss Rebels after terrible shooting and rebounding in the second half. From the first minute of the game and until halftime the Gators played aggressive, shot the ball well and hit the boards. By the look of the score and the runs Florida had made, it looked like there was no game. The Gators were up by 21 points at one time but the Rebels fought back to trail 75-68 with about 2 minutes remaining in the second half but still came up short handed. After the game I was next to Chandler Parsons and I heard him tell a fan that they should of rebounded much better than they did. Ole Miss were getting put backs after put backs, offensive rebounds right after another. I am sure coach Donovan has a tough drill they will be going at in the next practice for their lack of rebounding preformed tonight.

Ole Miss guard David Huertas returned to Gainesville tonight for the first time since he has transferred after the Gators won the Championship in 2006. Huertas visited the Gators in the locker room after the game as well as Billy Donovan to say a few words.

Sophomore guard Nick Calathes played well with 19 points and eight assists. Walter Hodge came out tonight firing from beyond the arc which helped him earn his 16 points. What really impresses me is how fast Florida pushes the ball down the floor. Right after a defensive rebound, Calathes gets the ball down and it is very hard to stop Florida from getting to the rim. Sophomore Chandler Parsons wrapped up the night with 12 points. Tonight was the SEC opener for Florida.

Quarterback Tim Tebow stood on the side tonight along with Coach Urban Meyer as they both talked to fans and watched the game. The Gators football team fell to Ole Miss 31-30 earlier in the season and I bet they were glad to get back at them, even thought it is basketball.

The Gators men basketball will be back in action Wednesday, January 14th as they travel to Auburn which will tip off at 8pm. Then Florida will be host Arkansas at home starting at 2pm on January 17th.
