Eloy Vargas To Leave Gainesville

As GSN reported in a previous article, the rumor of Eloy Vargas leaving Florida has become official. The 6’10″ center/forward never panned out to what his expectations were coming out of high school. Granted, he is still young, so he has time to improve, but Vargas will not get a chance to prove himself as a Gator. The high school phenom is officially no longer apart of Gator Nation.

The reason for him leaving seems to be because of his academics. A source has said that Vargas would not have been academically eligible for the fall season. With Vargas now done at UF, he has visited the University of Kentucky. With his transfer, the Gators’ Men’s Basketball team will have 11 players transfer since the 2003-2004 season.

Vargas’ departure may not seem to big that big of a deal, seeing that he averaged 0.6 points per game last season ( due to injury ) but Vargas appeared to have a bigger role this upcoming season, but we will never know how he would have turned out as a Gator.
