His first start of the 2009 season, Gators junior pitcher Jeff Barfield threw 6 innings as No. 17 Florida took down Stetson 5-2. Barfield finished the night allowing five hits and striking out four.

Freshman Preston Tucker hit one out of Melching stadium. Billy Bullock took control at the end and finished with the save. Thanks to the Tucker home run, it really got things started for the Gators in the fourth inning, which put them ahead 1-0.

Two Stetson errors in the fifth inning gave the Gators some breathing room as they scored a pair and went up 5-0. The win built some more confidence in this ball club. Florida also snapped their two game losing streak and should bounce back with positive signs.

Florida will host Florida Atlantic tomorrow at McKethan Stadium starting at 6:35pm.
