Brandon Spikes has finally agreed to a contract with the New England Patriots. After nearly holding out of camp with his new team, Spikes has agreed, and will sign a four year contract.

Spikes’ agent, Terry Watson told ESPN Boston that Spikes will sign a four year, $3.21 million contract on Monday evening. The deal will include a $960,000 signing bonus and a onetime incentive of $459,000. No exact definition was given for the one time incentive.

Spikes was the heart and soul of the Gators’ defense the past three seasons which resulted in the unit leading the team to the 2008 BCS National Championship when the Gators’ defense shut down Oklahoma and the number one offense in the country. Spikes was also a solid contributor the stout defense which led the Gators to the 2006 BCS Championship over the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Brandon Spikes left a huge hole in the middle of the Gators’ defense in the offseason. He has now set his sights on filling an even bigger hole at the next level left by the departure of legendary Patriot, Tedy Bruschi.
