Every team needs a great leader, and for the Florida Gators’ football team, they have five. Today, the Gators made the announcement of who will be labeled as a “Captain” for the 2009-10 season. The five Gators chosen as captains are as followed:
- QB Tim Tebow – He is the obvious choice to lead the Gators, and in fact, almost every team would want Tebow leading their program.
- LB Brandon Spikes – The defensive leader, Spikes lets his play speak for him, but he will also never back down from anyone, just ask Knowshon Moreno. (pictured)
- ATH Brandon James – The special teams leader, James is one of the most dominating returner in all of college football. Don’t judge his size, as he will pack a punch to anyone in his way.
- LB Ryan Stamper – The Senior has played a huge role on special teams and defense, and will once again look to improve upon his career in 2009.
- WR Joey Sorrentino – The Redshirt Senior has never been a standout player while being a Gator, but his perseverance can never be questioned.
Tebow, Spikes, and Stamper are all in a distinct class among former Gators. They are just 3 of 8 total players who have been named Captains twice in their career.
