A 6’2”, 312 pound defensive lineman by the name of Glen Watson will be the anchor underneath the number 65 jersey for the Florida Gators during the upcoming football season.
Glen was the anchor of the defensive line while he attended Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida. For his efforts during his senior year in 2009, Watson was named Escambia’s Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Pensacola Sports Commission. Needless to say, the rather large young man excelled on and off the field.
Upon graduating high school in 2009, Watson decided to attend the University of Florida, where he would be able to challenge his physical ability as well as his intellectual prowess. During the 2009 football season as a redshirt freshman, those efforts earned him the opportunity to dress for five games on the season. Watson would see action along the defensive line in two games against Charleston Southern and FIU where he would hold his own for the stout Gator defense but not record any tackles.
Glen Watson hopes to build upon his freshman season at Florida. With plenty of turnover along the defensive front this offseason; there just might be the opportunity he’s been working for.
